Tabuaço is a Portuguese village in the District of Viseu, Norte Region and Douro sub-region, with around 1 700 inhabitants.
It is the seat of a municipality with 133.86 km² in area and 6 350 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 13 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipality of Sabrosa, to the east by São João da Pesqueira, to the southeast by Sernancelhe, to the southwest by Moimenta da Beira and to the west by Armamar.
About 25% of the population works in the tertiary sector, but agriculture remains the sector with the greatest weight, about 56% of the active population. Among the products of greatest economic importance, wine and handicrafts stand out.
The roots of the village of Tabuaço date back to times older than Portuguese nationality. During Prehistory, several peoples settled here and developed their action, visible either in the ruins of shelters and castros, or in the remains of work instruments, such as ceramic pieces or primitive oil presses and wine and oil presses .
