Resende is a Portuguese village in the District of Viseu, in the Northern region and sub-region of Tâmega and Sousa, with about 3 100 inhabitants.
It is the seat of a municipality with an area of ??123.35 km² and 11 364 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 11 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipalities of Baião and Mesão Frio, to the east by Lamego, to the south by Castro Daire and to the west by Cinfães.
The municipality of Resende is located on the left bank of the Douro River, which borders it in the north, being bordered in the south by the municipality of Castro Daire, the east by the municipality of Lamego and the west by the municipality of Cinfães.
It belongs to the Douro Litoral region and administratively to the District of Viseu, is part of the Douro Sul Valley Municipality Grouping and is part of the Entre-Douro e Minho Agricultural Region.
