VISIT MONTALEGRE
In the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, this region offers breathtaking scenery. The village of Montalegre is dominated by the castle built in the 16th century. XIII on the remains of an older fortification, in the vicinity, next to the typical village village of Pitões das Júnias, the small and curious Monastery of Santa Maria das Júnias, now in ruins belonged to the Order of Cister (13th-14th centuries).
From a gastronomic point of view, Montalegre is famous for the production of sausages and ham, and the Fumeiro Fair is held annually in January, the ideal opportunity to acquire these delicacies.
ECOMUSEU DE BARROSO
The Intangible Heritage is the great pearl of this museum, assuming the collection of legends, traditions, ancient knowledge and finished crafts, the center of the whole strategy of research and cultural communication.
In this Museum of Territory were created nuclei in several parishes of Barroso to respond to the need to preserve the collective memory.
BRIDGE OF MISARELA
The beautiful Misarela Bridge is located on the crystalline river of Rabagão, in the middle of Gerês, near the Venda Nova Dam, more precisely in the place of Misarela, parish of Ferral, in the municipality of Montalegre. Bridge in the middle of nature, in a place only accessible by foot. The journey on foot to the bridge is very beautiful and the place is fantastic

CASTLE OF MONTALEGRE
The castle of Montalegre began its construction attributed to the king D. Afonso III, around 1270, but the works continued in the following reigns and still in the reign of D. Afonso IV, around 1330, there are references to works, namely the construction of the Torre de Menagem.
Classified as a National Monument, it received restoration works already in the 20th century and a museological nucleus was installed in it.
MONASTERY OF SANTA MARIA DAS JÚNIAS
It is the most isolated Cistercian establishment, implanted in a valley surrounded by mountainous peaks, near the border with Galicia. To get there, you have to walk from the village of Pitões das Júnias, but the unique magic of the place makes up for the effort.
CHURCH SANTA MARIA DO CASTELO
It is called Church of the Castle due to its proximity to this one, but it is also denominated like Santa Maria of the Castle. It is one of the two churches located in the medieval area of the village. Lost the statute of mother since the construction of the new church.
Of medieval character, its current moth dates back to the seventeenth century. Worthy of note is its bell tower, which, as with most of the county's churches, is separated from the main trunk of the temple.
