The Igreja da Misericórdia is dedicated to Senhor Ecce-Homo, whose image, according to tradition, was found buried in the place of the Cortes and, since time immemorial, deeply venerated by the peoples of the region and even neighboring Galicia.

Vila Nova de Cerveira
Its existence dates back to the creation of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia, which from the veneration by Senhor Ecce-Homo had an altar built in the beginning of the century. XVII, to later expand to a chapel. The construction of the current church started around 1811. The crown of Portuguese royalty stands out on the main door. Inside the church, two images are preserved prior to its construction: Nossa Senhora do Leite, in dwarf stone, from the 15th century and Senhor Ecce-Homo, in wood, covered with a mantle, from the end of the 16th century.
