The Ecopista - Caminho do Rio is an experience of contrasts of the landscape that shows us a different reality and leads us through the memory of the times to the relationship of Man with the Minho River, providing the full enjoyment of a 'green way' that crosses Vila Nova de Cerveira and connects this territory to the municipalities of Valença and Caminha (soon).

The natural conditions underlying this route allow the presence of several species of birds such as the mallard, heron, cormorant and kingfisher, mammals such as the otter and the mink, amphibians such as the green frog , the newt and the salamander and of fish such as the boga, the escalalo and the trout. It is due to its importance and natural diversity that Caminho do Rio is integrated in the Natura 2000 Network and in the Protection Area for Aquatic Birds of the Minho River estuary.
The Ecovia ‘Caminho do Rio’, in Vila Nova de Cerveira, is about 13.5 km in full contact with the river Minho and surrounding nature.
