WELCOME!
The Pilgrimage of St. Marta de Portuzelo has, in the Ethnographic Court, an unquestionable public consecration. From the program of the party there are several numbers, all of them full of symbolism, from the decoration of the Parish Church, performed by fairy hands, from the women of Santa Marta to the last rocket, all materialized in a single sense, showing what there is of the most beautiful and pure in this land that has seen us grow. But let us return to the Ethnographic Courts, formerly known as "Agricultural Parades", today constitute, together with the Santa Marta Procession, a number of the Program that brings more visitors to this locality, hence the special care that the Festival Committee places in this program , not sparing efforts to increasingly value the sampling of uses and customs of the People of Santa Marta de Portuzelo.
They paraded for the first time, in this Parish, in the thirties, integrated in the Festivals of the Harvests that had like Patron Saint Isidoro and as a great dynamiser Father António Gonçalves da Torre. In principle, the parades were a demonstration of the various agricultural favelas, then it came to integrate the various types of handicrafts, today encompass these themes and also the sport and cultural part, is the found form of making alive the "things" of the past and from them we receive the corresponding messages and transmit them to our youth.
In 1944, and under the direction of Dr. Sousa Gomes, the Court changed its costume a little and began to introduce costume parades in the past to integrate representations of other coastal parishes, Areosa, Carreno and Afife, but it was in 1945, which attracted its highest point not only by sampling the customs and customs of Santa Marta but also by the representations of the following Parishes: Areosa, Cardielos, Vila Franca, Carreço, Darque, Lanheses, Outeiro, Perre, Serreleis, Subportela, Vila Mou, Amonde.
Today, the Ethnographic Courts are perfectly rooted in the Santa Marta Festivities Program and are restricted exclusively to customs and customs, handicrafts and especially the dissemination of our costumes. We are aware that the themes presented are common to Ribeira Lima but with small variants, sometimes imperceptible to lay people.
