Casa Corno do Bico

The Casa do Corno do Bico is the result of the use of an old farmhouse from the 16th century. XVIII and of its annex, once also with functional usefulness of family shelter. Its adaptation to rural tourism, under the modality of Casa de Campo, was guided by the preservation of its respective original trait, where it did not collide with the current functions intended and the enlargement in L to increase its accommodation capacity. But the most striking element of the House is the existence of a hundred-year-old tree, an imposing specimen of Freixo, which projects over part of the House. The spaces here have received social and reception areas, one suite and two rooms and the enlargement carried out two suites and one bedroom. The above mentioned annex received a suite. All rooms include private bathroom and the suites small living rooms. They have an annex / space for equipment and laundry, a swimming pool, pool table and children's equipment.

The place

The House is located in the place of Lameira, Bico parish, Paredes de Coura county, where the green of its landscape is still and always greener. The House owes its name to the elevation of Corno do Bico, with 833m of altitude, which integrates the Protected Landscape Area of ??Corno de Bico.

The landscape beauty of this area is a combined result between the nature and the culture here that naturally designed it and always associated with the creative genius of its inhabitants in the conquest of lands to the mountain range, which today is translated into the reticulate of the arable fields, framed by hedges confining, projecting into a large patchwork patch topped by small hills with planted houses, cypresses and chestnut trees.

Nature and man animate and give material meaning in each season of the year, each with its own charm: the spring dressed in flowery, perfumed green elevates the freshness of the air and water, the summery fields in summer, the tinted yellowish reddish autumnal and the rosy gray of the oaks naked in the winter, when it is not covered of a blanket white of snow, that also arraia frequently.

Area of ??Protected Landscape of Horn of Bico, integrated in the natura 2000 network, with 2175 ha, with spots of Quercus robur L (alvarinho carvalho) and a diversity of shrub species of floristic and botanical value, and a wild fauna where they are mentioned : the wolf, the buck, the royal eagle, the owl of the bush, the red-buckthorn, the orange tetrass, the otter, the viper of seoane, among many others. Through the area snake lines of water: of labrujó, do Vez and Coura. Its geomorphology with its heights at high altitudes (between 735 and 888m), providing breathtaking views over the valleys and hills.

The area also includes cultural heritage made up of dolmens, mamoas, castros and, according to José Augusto Vieira in "O Minho Pitoresco", traces of ancient civilizations and a city whose name is unknown.

The region - Paredes de Coura was, in times past, the Barn of the Minho, for which also contributed to the parish of Bico with its fertile lands of abundant waters. In its peak the river Coura is its main spring in the Regueiro das Cebolas.
