Situated on the northern coast of Portugal, it is marked by beauty and diversity. Bordered to the south by Viana do Castelo, to the north by the Minho river, to the east by the municipalities of Vila Nova de Cerveira and Ponte de Lima and to the west by the Atlantic sea, Caminha has Galicia on the other side of the Minho River.
The old fortified village of Caminha overlooks the river Minho and is rich in historical and architectural heritage. The village is attractive, with its manor houses and defensive walls that seem to whisper tales and legends, the Gothic-style Mother Church and the nice central square with its cafés and terraces, the Clock Tower (15th century), the renaissance fountain and Solar dos Pitas, displaying seven splendid Manueline windows on the upper floor.
