Conceived by João de Castilho, this beautiful example of Italian classicism is the best evocation of Greco-Roman art in the Iberian Peninsula.
We highlight the Florentine urban implementation, the austere sobriety of the proportions, the windows viewed according to the solar orientation and, inside, the articulation of the volumes between the naves and the transept, the dramatic vibration of the natural lighting and the Corinthian decoration of the capitals.
