Located at the confluence of two rivers - the Tagus and the Zêzere - Constância has a characteristic physiognomy that is conferred by the white houses implanted harmoniously on a hillside.
It was its geographical location that shaped the characteristics of this town that in the 19th century. XIV was an important river port and a busy commercial warehouse.
Constância has its name linked to that of Luís Vaz de Camões, great Portuguese poet of the century. XVI, author of the "Lusíadas", who lived here for some time. Annually on the 10th of June the "Pomonas Camonianas" are held, parties that portray the medieval period, in which the village pays homage to its Poet.
Another annual event that attracts a lot of people to Constância are the Feasts of Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem, which take place around Easter, in which the town presents itself in its greatest splendor, with the streets adorned with colorful papers and animated by the many small stalls that are found a little bit everywhere. The highlight of this festival is the Monday after Easter, where a procession of ornate boats takes place.
