Jardim da República

Once the Palace was lost, from which a portico was demolished in 1890, the land was then transformed into Praça do Comércio, where it was sold, popular parties and a public walk were held.

The railings were first placed on a brick wall and wooden railing in 1891, only to be replaced by wrought iron in 1896.

In 1930, Almeirim was included in a tourism zone, and the project for landscaping that space was born, moving the market there to the building of the covered market opened in 1932, and which still exists today. From then on, the garden of the republic was considered "the visiting room of Almeirim".
