Monte de São Miguel-O-Anjo is the highest point in the Municipality of Maia, located at an elevation of schist geology, reaching 255 meters of altitude. Monte is forested with stands where eucalyptus dominates. The top of Monte is a clearing space where the Chapel of São Miguel-O-Anjo is located at the highest point, oriented to the west, with the respective churchyard that works as a viewpoint.

The pilgrimage to São Miguel-O-Anjo on the first Sunday of July, gives its name to this hill, from which you can see the contours of Porto, the sameiro in Braga, Santa Justa in Valongo, Monte Crasto in Gondomar, and in horizon the sea. It is said that, in the past, the party was celebrated by fishermen from the village of Matosinhos to thank the protection that the Angel granted them; in addition, Monte served as a point of reference, as a lighthouse, when they returned from fishing trips.
