Serra da Aboboreira Archaeological Field (CASA), was a project created in 1978, under the responsibility of Vítor Jorge, his mentor and coordinator, with the purpose of creating a permanent work unit, as an active center for the study and collection of letters archaeological sites.

Description

This project was born out of a study plan, delivered by Vítor Jorge to the then IPPC in 1978, which aimed only at the “megalithic” set of Serra da Aboboreira.

However, as traces of other types of structures were detected - populated in a pit, graves in a pit and open gravel pits - in various parts of the Serra, when the archaeological work carried out on the first megalithic monument excavated there was carried out (Outeiro de Ante 3) , there was then the need to broaden the chronological scope of studies already started, as well as to open the field to the intervention of other researchers, already in 1979 (JORGE 1988: 2 and 3).
