Gavião is a Portuguese village in the Portalegre District, Alentejo region and Alto Alentejo sub-region, with 1 609 inhabitants (2011).
It is the seat of a municipality with 294.59 km² of area and 4 132 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 4 parishes. The municipality is limited to the west and north by the municipality of Mação, to the east by Nisa, to the southeast by Crato, to the southwest by Ponte de Sor and to the west by Abrantes.
Tranquil environment of simple houses, in a space where walls, eaves, chimneys, open terraces, flower gardens, swings, towers of small chapels and a serious pillory are a sign of the past's law and justice. Scattered, here and there, crafts from other times, drawn stonework and emblazoned emblems. Nearby, the river beach of Alamal is a paradisiacal place due to the natural surroundings.
