Álvaro Gonçalves Pereira, 1st Prior of Crato, who lifts the imposing Monastery of Santa Maria de Flor da Rosa to the seat of the Order and the Palácio do Grão-Prior (architecture attributed to Miguel Arruda) of which only the imposing veranda and a big window remain);
- For the glamor of the Baroque era with its palaces distributed throughout the county;
- For the royal weddings of D. Manuel I with D. Leonor and D. João III and D. Catarina, celebrated in the Paços do Castelo (Palácio Teixeira Guerra), in the village of Crato, with pomp and circumstance.
