Solar do Ribeirinho

In this museum, it is possible to find, in an interactive way, stories and characters that have built the current city of Machico, over more than 500 years, distributed among the four thematic centers on display.
In the course of the four thematic nuclei the visitor can discover several historical objects: a cross from Machim; a painting by the 1st Captain Donatario de Machico (Tristão Vaz Teixeira); a 17th century processional step with high artistic interest; a very rare signet with an ivory handle and a 16th century silver stamp; various archaeological objects made of ceramics, stone and metal; an inscription recorded with a block by the 18th century machiquense poet Francisco Álvares de Nóbrega (Camões Pequeno); and various objects that make up Machico's economic, social and cultural history, from the early settlement times, in the 15th century, to the 20th century.

The space provides didactic and educational resources, based on the new information technologies. The texts are presented in Portuguese and English.
