Alvaiázere is a Portuguese village belonging to the District of Leiria, Center region and sub-region of Pinhal Interior Norte, with about 1 800 inhabitants.
It is the seat of a municipality with 161.00 km² in area and 7941 inhabitants (2006), subdivided into 5 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipality of Ansião, to the northeast and east by Figueiró dos Vinhos, to the southeast by Ferreira do Zêzere, to the southwest by Ourém and to the west by Pombal.

From the geological point of view Alvaiázere is a municipality with limestone features where it is possible to find, scattered throughout the territory, numerous karst formations (for example caves, algares and limpets) that, over time, have been the subject of various occupations ranging from Pre -history until the middle of the last century.
