Pinhel is a Portuguese city belonging to Guarda district, in Beira Alta province, Centro region (Beiras region) and Beiras and Serra da Estrela sub-region, with approximately 3,500 inhabitants.
Also known as Cidade Falcão, it is the seat of a municipality with an area of ??484.52 km² and 9 627 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 18 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, to the northeast by Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, to the east by Almeida, to the south by Guarda and to the west by Celorico da Beira, Trancoso and Mêda.
