TERMAS CALDAS DA CAVACA
Caldas da Cavaca is located on a farm with about ninety hectares, five kilometers from the county seat, on the left bank of Ribeira de Coja, in a pleasant valley. They are also called Termas da Cavaca and Banhos da Cavaca. In its complex there is a chapel, elevated next to the thermal spa and with access through several sections of stone staircase, this being invoked by Nossa Senhora dos Remédios.
Inaugurated in 1924 (business license granted on November 16, 1924), thanks to the initiative of the then merchant and mayor Fernando da Silva Laires, Caldas da Cavaca were open from that year until 1995, the year they closed for about 13 years . By previous analyzes carried out in 1919 and, later, in 1938, it was found that the composition of these was quite interesting, due to its large percentage of fluorine: it is considered a meso-thermal water, weakly mineralized, sprouted at a temperature between 25 and 30 degrees, hyposaline, sulfur, flouret and titanic.
On April 10, 1920, Fernando Laires, applied to the city council for authorization to build a road with reduced roads that connected Caldas da Cavaca to the Pinheiro road and the Coruche road. In 1940 there was already a clinical director, as well as four tubs for immersion baths. However, it was in the 50's that the great impulse was given to transform that space into a small resort well equipped for the time.
It has become known at home and abroad for the treatment of skin, musculoskeletal, respiratory and digestive diseases.
After a few years without activity, in 2008 “the Spa” reopened, with seasonal activity, managed by the Municipal Company ABTT - Aguiar da Beira Termas e Turismo EEM (after significant public investment in the expansion and requalification of the thermal spa), and later by the company Caldas from Cavaca SA, betting on the offer of a new range of treatments, not only therapeutic, but of well-being and beauty, provided until today, to a high number of aquistas, between May and October.
