Oleiros is a Portuguese village belonging to the district of Castelo Branco, statistical region of the Center and sub-region of Beira Baixa, part of the traditional province with the same name, with less than 2 000 inhabitants.
It is the seat of a municipality with an area of ??471.09 km² and 5,205 inhabitants (2016), subdivided into 10 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipality of Fundão, to the east by Castelo Branco, to the south by Proença-a-Nova, to the southwest by Sertã and to the northwest by Pampilhosa da Serra.
The village of Oleiros, located in a region commonly known as the Pinhal area and close to the Cabril Dam, offers excellent conditions for a few days of rest in contact with nature.
From its distant past, the vestiges of the presence of ancient peoples are preserved, such as the Cova da Moura fort. The village itself deserves a long visit, which should include the Mother Church (16th-18th century) and the Misericórdia Church (18th century), very rich in gilded woodcarving.
In the surroundings, it is worth strolling through the picturesque villages, like Álvaro with his white houses arranged along the only street, or the Estreito, where the same shale houses of four hundred years ago are kept.
The gastronomy offers such a wide variety that it is really difficult to choose. The maranhos and the stuffed tripe, the stoned kid, the grilled trout and the various game dishes, such as the hare, the rabbit and the partridge, stand out.
