Naturally Transmontano

We have our "Mel do Bô" (honey of the good) and also a "Cachico de Favo" (bit of honeycomb). All our apiaries are in mountain area (altitude > 800m), in the municipality of Vinhais (near the Biological Park), located within the Montesinho Natural Park, where agriculture is done on a small scale and where we obey rules that only benefit bee keeping. We are working to introduce other products in the future, including the "Longal" chestnut, a variety of excellence from Terra Fria Transmontana.

Beekeeping. We have about 150 hives distributed by several apiaries along ciradelha and serra da Coroa, in Vinhais. From these we collect the honey and take advantage of the combs that we have made arrive a little throughout the brigantino district and, of course, Lisbon.

Chestnuts. The new bet of 2020 was the chestnuts, or were not us in the largest area of production of these fruits in Portugal. We are working on valuing a very characteristic variety of The Transmontana Cold Earth: The Longal.

Bô Honey - Multifloral

Multifloral honey of black hue, with predominance of chestnut, to which is added heather and honeyed black oak. The "Honey of Bô" is a product that allows you to feel all the aromas and flavors of the flora of our region, so we believe to be an excellent example of the nature that surrounds us and that is our essence. Mel do Bô - Chestnut Tree

Monofloral chestnut honey, dark in tone and woody flavor. This is a product that is the fruit of the immense soutos of our region, an ode to the true "transmontano gold" that is the chestnut. All our apiaries are in a mountain area (altitude >800m), in the area of Vinhais (near the Biological Park), located in the Montesinho Natural Park, where agriculture is done on a small scale and where we obey rules that only benefit beekeeping production.

Favo's Cachico

Honeycomb is a product that departs directly from the hive to the consumer's dish. It is a wax structure that bees create to store honey. We present this product as a reminder of the ancient traditional beekeeping, still made in tenements. The cresta, that is, the extraction of honey, was done manually, and in the course of the activity it was used to eat some pieces of honeycomb, the most natural way to eat honey! This maintains the characteristics of a multifloral honey of black hue, with a predominance of chestnut, to which is added the heather and the honeyof black oak.

Chestnuts - Longal

Chestnut 'Longal', variety of excellence of pdo Terra Fria Transmontana. Fruit that is easily recognized, for its elongated shape, with reddish tones and well-creased longitudinal stripes and characteristics. It is sweet, with a high starch content, and excellent flavor. It has almost no recesses, being easy to peel and presenting good conservation capacity.
