Its privileged location has motivated from ancestral times, the passage and presence of peoples and civilizations that, here, left marks of their riches and cultures. There are several vestiges of the occupation of the region, in the prehistory and antiquity that we can find in different parishes of the county.
Vila Nova de Famalicão has developed a strong commitment to the promotion of local and traditional gastronomy, in particular through the organization of a wide range of initiatives, such as the Fortnight of Gastronomy, the Craft and Gastronomy Fair, the International Gastronomy Congress and the edition of the Gastronomic Route of Famalicão, that have developed this theme with brio and excellence.
