The picturesque village of Espindo, with its narrow alleys and granite dwellings, is yet another typical example of a mountain village. This small town, also classified as Aldeia de Portugal, is located in the parish of Ruivães and extends to the middle of the northern slope of Cabreira, about 710 meters above sea level.

The date of the creation of the village is not certain. However, according to the inhabitants, this location will be between 400 and 500 years old. Currently, the village is inhabited by about 30 people who subsist essentially from agriculture and livestock. With a strong community tradition, the irrigation system that usually runs from 24 June to the end of September is still preserved. Like the neighboring villages, Espindo benefited from the exploitation of tungsten.
