The Serra da Penha with an area of 1140 hectares is assumed to be an extremely important place for the population, not only because of the visual impact it has on the city of Guimarães, which makes it in terms of landscape known as the “lung of city ”, but also for the most varied aspects such as religion (since 1702 with a large concentration of people of faith), cultural (caves and hermitages), pedestrians on the trails, cable car and guided mini-train tours) and the environmental (ecological diversity in terms of fauna and flora).
