The beginning of the construction of the church dates back to 1588, having been inaugurated only in 1606. In the following year works for the reconstruction of the facade began, which finished only in 1640.

With a longitudinal plan and a Mannerist façade, it has two medallions on the front, framed by two Corinthian columns and, at the top, a glass niche with the sculpture of Nossa Senhora da Misericórdia. Inside, a single nave and a rectangular chancel, a vaulted ceiling covered with stucco, the main altarpiece, dating from the late 18th century, the pulpits of 1781 and the Iberian organ box stand out.
From the estate there are two large paintings: one on canvas representing Nossa Senhora da Misericórdia; and another on wood representing the Visitation, dated 1616. It was classified as a property of public interest in 1974.
