Popularly called the “Cork Museum”, the Santa Maria de Lamas Museum is a particular case in the history of 20th century Portuguese museography. Centered on the figure of a collector (Henrique Amorim), it presents itself as a Museum project that preserves the idea of transforming a private asset - collection - into an institution of public benefit - museum.

A truly unique collection, recovered and reorganized since 2004, which displays collections of Sacred Art before its audience (gilded, imaginary, painting, furniture and liturgical objects); Ethnography, Iconography of the Founder; Civil Furniture; National and International statuary, late century. XIX and 1st half of the century. XX; Natural Sciences; Tapestry; Tiles; Statuary in Cork / Agglomerated Cork and Industrial Archeology (machinery used in the early days of the Cork processing industry) that highlights the potential of this raw material and reflects the identity of the local community.
The Museum has in its Educational Service a high point in terms of theoretical and playful quality, providing the visitor with an awareness of art itself, its typological and thematic diversity, cultural heritage and its conservation.
A socially active, cultural and pedagogically relevant space, by evoking stories and stories, thus contributing to deepen and disseminate the knowledge of Portuguese heritage.
