Installed in two old paper factories from the beginning of the 19th century, the Terras de Santa Maria Paper Museum is an Industrial Museum dedicated to the history of papermaking, since its “sheet by sheet” manufacturing phase, presented in the 19th century. from Engenho da Lourença, to the continuous production of paper that marks the industrial environment of the last century of Casa da Máquina, and to the most recent History of the Paper Industry in Portugal, through the exhibition “Da Floresta ao Papel”.
Rua Rio Maior 338, Paços de Brandão
Santa Maria da Feira
Constituting a manufacturing and industrial space in activity, its permanent exhibition is guided by the use of different raw materials in the manufacture of paper, over time, providing the public with knowledge of the subsequent moments of the manufacturing process, the variety of papers produced in Portugal and their multiplicity of applications.
In addition to this permanent exhibition on papermaking, we highlight the collection of watermarks and the collection made up of pieces from different paper mills across the country.
