Romariz is home to one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Entre Douro e Vouga region (EDV). Castro de Romariz is a fortified town dating from the 5th century BC with levels of occupation until the 1st century AD.

The archaeological work carried out here made it possible to identify the different phases of proto-historical and Roman occupation of this village.
Its collection consists of numerous species of ceramics, glass, metals, coins and epigraphs, with an expressive set of indigenous, Punic, Greek and Roman ceramics and two monetary treasures, an indicator of indigenous ergology, regional and long-term exchanges. distance that refer to the richness of the village's chronological and cultural framework, allowing to recognize its importance in the context of the Castro culture of the Northwest Peninsular.
