Santa Maria da Feira integrated a project for the requalification and signaling of the itinerary with 14 more municipalities, from Vila Nova de Gaia to Ourém, over a distance of 212 kilometers, mostly off national roads and with only an increase of 8% in the total distance, with the aim of enhancing the security of pilgrims and enhancing cultural heritage along the route.
This project, which includes the signage of the itinerary through directional signs (already implemented) will be complemented by promotional totems with information on the cultural heritage of reference of the territory covered, allowing pilgrims who travel the Path of Fátima every year for about twenty kilometers. in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira in safety, thanks to the construction of sidewalks, requalification of the shoulders and the creation of pedestrian corridors, inviting them to enjoy the cultural, scenic and gastronomic attractions existing in the municipality.
