Oliveira de Azeméis is a Portuguese city belonging to the District of Aveiro, located in the Greater Metropolitan Area of ??Porto, in the North and NUT III regions of Entre Douro e Vouga. It is the seat of a municipality that has 19 parishes, distributed over 12 territorial units. With 163.41 km² of area, the municipality is occupied by about 69 000 inhabitants.
It is limited to the northeast by the municipality of Arouca, to the east by Vale de Cambra and Sever do Vouga, to the south by Albergaria-a-Velha, to the west by Estarreja and Ovar and to the northwest by São João da Madeira and Santa Maria da Feira. de Azeméis is an important place since time immemorial, being a place with proven human presence, since at least 2000 BC, in the castros of Ul and Ossela.
