The municipality of Mealhada is limited to the north by the municipality of Anadia, to the east by Mortágua, to the southeast by Penacova and Coimbra, to the south by Coimbra and to the west by Cantanhede. Located right in the center of the country, it enjoys a privileged location, and is, by highway, one hour from Porto, two hours from Lisbon, less than one hour from Aveiro and Figueira da Foz and 20 minutes from Coimbra.
The municipality also enjoys excellent accessibility. It is crossed by the A1 with access through the node of Mealhada, by the IC 2, by the EN 234 (between Mira and Mangualde) and by a municipal road network extending to all the parishes. It is also crossed by the Northern and Beira Alta railway lines and the Figueira da Foz branch line, which cross at the Pampilhosa station.
The Municipality of Mealhada is subdivided into six parishes: Barcouço, Casal Comba, Luso, Pampilhosa, Vacariça and União de Freguesias da Mealhada, Antes and Ventosa do Bairro.
