Águeda is a Portuguese city belonging to the sub-region of the Region of Aveiro and the Center Region with about 14000 inhabitants (2016), being the fourth largest city in resident population of the Region of Aveiro, surpassed only by the cities of Aveiro, Ovar and Ílhavo .
The city is crossed by the river that gave it its name, the Águeda river, spreading its houses over a slight slope, in turn inserted in a wide valley, at 31 meters of altitude. With regard to the municipal territory, it is mostly made up of rugged reliefs and large valleys between mountains to the Serra do Caramulo, being recognized for its quality river beaches, such as Alfusqueiro, and for its picturesque villages, such as Lourizela .
Virtually the entire municipality is part of the gastronomic and natural region of Bairrada, famous for its wines and sparkling wines, sweets and its roasted piglet.
Águeda is a municipality full of corners waiting for you to discover them, where the diversity of its landscapes surrounds you with good gastronomy - the prestigious Leitão da Bairrada has its place of prominence -, accompanied by nectars from the Bairrada Demarcated Region ..
